Chadwick Boseman shines in James Brown Biopic 'Get on Up' and more This Week in Fashion...

I had a chance to check out the ‘Get on Up’ biopic and I stand by my declaration of Chadwick Boseman being the next big thing. I was disappointed when 97.9 the Box’s morning crew tried to play Chadwick by stumping him with some James Brown trivia during an interview. When you have the ability to emulate someone the way he did as James Brown...trivia doesn’t matter. He had the dance moves, the mannerisms, and even had the James Brown diction down. Alongside Chadwick actors Jill Scott, Octavia Spencer, and Viola Davis had wonderful performances as expected. I was also pleasantly surprised by the performance of supporting actor Nelsan Ellis who played a phenomenal Bobby Byrd. I will admit while the film gave me a few new facts about James Brown I didn’t know....I found myself disappointed with the flow of the film. I felt like the film touched on a few poignant moments of James Brown career and life but left much to be desired. In the end I believe the cast gave exceptional performances with the material they were given. I can’t wait to see what’s next for Chadwick!
