Chanel Iman, Zoe Saldana, Minka Kelly and more This Week in Fashion...

Round of applause to Mrs. Kerry Washington (Asomugha) who did a phenomenal job as the host of Saturday Night Live this past weekend.  I knew we were in for a real treat after the cold open “Presidential” sketch that immediately took on the controversy surrounding the lack of black women in the cast. Side-eye to cast member Kenan Thompson who blamed the lack of diversity in the SNL cast on black women claiming that, “... in auditions, they just never find ones that are ready.” Really Kenan?...Really?

Chanel Iman turned heads while attending “Hitchcock’s To Catch A Thief Celebrating The Princess Grace Foundation” in a Ralph Lauren design. The black maxi dress was a sleeveless design that featured a scooped neck and knee-high slit. I love the all black look on Chanel who opted to accessorize with black strappy pumps and a black clutch. So what lessons can we learn from Chanel’s simple yet elegant look? Mostly that you can be comfortable, sassy, and chic.

Blake Lively, whom you either know as the star of Gossip Girl or the spokeswoman for Gucci, added a new brand to her resume… L’Oréal Paris. She talked about the new partnership saying, “I’m thrilled and honored to join the incredible women who represent L’Oréal Paris. I grew up with the inspiration of their message, ‘We’re worth it;’ what an important value to instill in women.”

Blake Lively - Balmain

This was announced officially at the Shangri-La Hotel in Paris, France and Blake donned a Balmain design. The dress was off the shoulder white and blue and houndstooth and featured a short pleated miniskirt. A silver and gold-chain belt took this design from hmm?...to everything. Blake finished off her look with a pair of nude Christian Louboutin ‘Filter’ pumps that made her legs go on forever.

Abigail Breslin looked amazing at the LA premiere of ‘Ender’s Game.’ I couldn’t believe my eyes. Abigail has grown into a beautiful young lady and it was only a few years ago she was the adorable little Olive Hoover in ‘Little Miss Sunshine.’ I loved Abigail’s choice of a Halston Heritage design. The black gown featured an open-back with sheer embroidered sleeves. I am pleasantly surprised as I’ve said time and time again to see these young starlets taking a classy approach to the red carpet.

Zoe Saldana attended the third annual LACMA Art + Film Gala that honored filmmaker Martin Scorcese and artist David Hockney. She wore a gorgeous custom Gucci gown that featured body contouring panels. The black and green design had sheer moments that I liked and as you can see in the picture Zoe was giving face and angles that would make Tyra proud. A matching satin clutch, sandals, and Gucci jewelry finished off her fab look. Zoe looked gorgeous but alas I am ready to bid farewell to the peek-a-boo gowns. Who’s with me?

Minka Kelly has been seen around New York City promoting her latest project ‘Almost Human.’ She looked great one afternoon in a navy blue, sleeveless Philosophy Resort dress that she wore under a camel Fay ‘Romantic’ coat. Melinda Maria Cecily earrings and a pair of nude Christian Louboutin ‘So Kate’ pumps finished off her look.
