Nieves Alvarez, Beyoncé, Margot Robbie and more This Week in Fashion...

As we begin a new year of fashion I have a few people I must add to the “WINNING” fashion roster of 2013. I begin with Nieves Alvarez who wore a stunning Stéphane Rolland design to the 2013 Goya Cinema awards. Stéphane masterfully combines a seamless body contouring gown with a very bold structural floral piece. The design featured a long sleeved form fitting top that was paired with an ivory skirt that fanned at the calf to tiers and layered materials. A gold belt accented Nieves’ waist and drew more attention to the beautiful rose that cascaded down the gown. A black Christian Louboutin clutch and silver Chopard jewelry finished off Nieves look.

She doesn’t pop molly...she rocks Tom Ford. Given the option 99.9% of everyone I know would opt for the Tom Ford...I’m just saying. Naturally, Beyoncé looked amazing in the Tom Ford design she chose for the album release/video screening of her newest self-titled album ‘Beyoncé.” Almost befitting of her latest record shattering feat...this particular dress featured shattered glass appliqués. The sheer, long sleeved, high neck mini dress hugged her figure and ended just above a pair of thigh high boots that featured the same glassy appliqués. There’s not much more to say aside from the fact that she clearly won. I think Beyonce taught us 2 very important things in the year of 2013. (1) You can do any and everything so no more excuses. (2) LADIES...you don’t have to do the absolute most to your eyebrows. (Reference the natural brow Beyonce has in her ‘Drunk in Love’ video.) Now it’s time for you to go win!

Debby Ryan was spotted at the premiere of ’Justin Bieber’s ‘Believe.’ Debby, who has graced the fashion page before, opted for a very embellished black dress designed by Rachel Gilbert. This particular dress featured a halter neck and sweeping patterns of embellishment that highlighted her curves. Like a true fashionista, Debby spiced up her look with a pair of candy red Bionda Castana ‘Lana’ heels and frosted with Marina B Chutes’ earrings.

I can’t even imagine what type of music Adele will be inspired to write now that things seem to only be getting better for her personally, post her hit albums of heartbreak. The Grammy award winning artist became a Mom and most recently was appointed a ‘Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to music.’ The honor was bestowed upon her by Prince Charles himself at Buckingham Palace. What does one wear to receive such an honor? Adele chose a Stella McCartney design that featured a lovely feather print on-top of a dark navy and green long sleeved dress. This particular McCartney design was modified from the look-book version with different sleeves and a longer hemline. My absolute favorite British fashion staple is the beautiful fascinators that all the girls wear. Adele wore a Philip Treacy fascinator and simply won. Cheers to you Adele!

While we’re on the subject of Stella McCartney, I must take a moment to congratulate her on designing one of the year’s most popular red carpet looks. No your eyes are not deceiving you; you have actually seen this gown many times before, most recently on Alicia Keys. Angelababy attended the Bazaar Jewelry gala in Beijing wearing the same canary yellow Stella McCartney gown. You can’t really go wrong with the subtle side cutouts and gold metal belt on this halter gown. Angelababy sassed the look up with a pair of red heels.

Scorsese newbie Margot Robbie was on the scene of the ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ premiere. The gorgeous leading lady dazzled in a custom white Armani Prive one shoulder gown. The gown featured draped white material that was broken up with black paneling at the waist and an open back. Margot finished off her look with Jacob & Co frosting. Let’s take a moment to talk about the craziness that was ‘The Wolf of Wall Street.’ I witnessed a lot of people walk out of the theater in disgust at the greed, drug, and sex fueled tale of Jordan Belfort. I also read an open letter that one of the children of Belfort’s accomplices wrote in anger towards the making of the movie. The sad fact of the matter is this film was adapted from true to life events which can often be “disgusting”in nature. So while I empathize for the families who still suffer from the deception of Belfort, I must say to incite as much anger as this film has, it had to have been brilliantly directed and acted.

Elanne Kwong was spotted in a gorgeous Stéphane Rolland piece while she attended the Huading Global Music Satisfaction Survey Release Ceremony in Shanghai. The sandy colored dress featured an asymmetrical draped sleeve and a long-sleeved train. Elanne wore a pair of nude colored platform Christian Louboutin heels and frosted with Givenchy.

Last but certainly not least is one of my favorite actresses, Marion Cotillard who started the craze of this year’s most popular skirt. I am talking of course about the Christian Dior hoop skirt we’ve seen all year (mostly in coral hue). Marion opted for the blue hued skirt that features a “rise-and-fall” hemline. Though I appreciate the coral color I think the blue does it for me. Also...let’s just pretend she’s not wearing black pumps with all of this fabulousness.
