Lupita Nyong’o, Amma Asante, Matthew McConaughey and more This Week in Fashion...

The New Year has begun, the fashion slate has been cleansed and everyone has the opportunity to make this their greatest fashion choices yet, much like the divine Lupita Nyong’o who walked the red carpet of the ‘2014 Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala’ in a gorgeous Elie Saab dress. This beautiful sleeveless dress features a lace pink bodice covered in golden embellishment and cinched with a thin belt. The dress is accompanied by a coat that is ¾ sleeved. Lupita carried a Judith Leiber clutch, frosted with Cartier jewelry, and wore a pair of matching Christian Louboutin strappy sandals. Lupita had an amazing style year in 2013 and I can’t wait to see what she dazzles us with at the Golden Globes on Sunday. Sidenote…how adorable is it that she’s toting her brother around ? The whole family can win.

“Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom” star Naomie Harris looked amazing at the 25th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala. She stunned in a white floral lace gown designed by Naeem Khan. The dress featured ¾ length sleeves and Naomie nixed the runway look and opted for a black belt that matched her Rauwolf clutch. A Pair of Jimmy Choo sandals and some David Morris diamond frosting completed her flawless look.

Star of ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom’ Naomie Harris also appeared on the Jonathan Ross show wearing the beautiful beaded Emilio Pucci skirt Joan Small modeled on the catwalk last spring. She spruced up the skirt in a silk blouse and black blazer. A pair of black pumps completed this look.

Director of upcoming film ‘Belle’ Amma Asante was spotted at Variety’s Creative Impact Awards and 10 Directors to Watch Brunch Wearing a Dolce & Gabbana LBD. Amma paired the black scooped necked ¾ sleeved lacy dress with a pair of leather strappy sandals.

“Alright, Alright, Alright”….Matthew McConaughey and his beautiful wife Camila Alves shut down the red carpet of the 25th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala. Actor Matthew McConaughey, who you can currently see in ‘Wolf of Wall Street” and ‘Dallas Buyers Club,’ looked polished and dapper in a Saint Laurent ensemble. The golden blazer featured black satin lapels and black buttons and Matthew styled it with a crispy white shirt and black bowtie. His perfectly tailored pants featured a satin strip that ran the length of the trousers. I think him being the spokesperson for Dolce & Gabana fragrance for men just sort of makes it smell better…don’t you think? Camilla Alves stunned in a black Mikael D sleeveless gown. The gorgeous gown featured sheer lacey panels and a sky-high thigh-high slit. I see you Camilla. Casadei t-bar ‘Blade’ heels and a satin clutch finished her look for the night. And to all the other couples...checkmate.

Friend in my head Solange Knowles did it once again while performing at the Falls Music and Arts Festival in Australia. And by doing it once again I mean another fashion win! She wore an all red Paper London ensemble that featured a turtle-neck sleeveless crop top and a pair of high waist matching pedal pushers. Solange finished off this look with a colorful pair of Fendi PVC sandals.

Actress Rose Byrne was in Sydney, Australia to open the annual David Jones Boxing Day sale. Rose wore a Dion Lee dress that featured a wonderful ocean wave print with a wrap-front construction at the waist and an open back. She paired this dress with a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Anouk’ pumps.

Solange Knowles also chose a cute Clover Canyon dress for her New Year’s Eve look. The dress featured a tropical and wood grain print. The sleeveless flouncy dress looked even better with the cutesy sandals and cat-eyed shades she wore.

Miss Kylie Minogue was revealed as the new-season judge for The VoiceUK as a replacement for Jessie J. She will join judges Will.i.am, Tom Jones and Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson. At a photocall Kylie stepped out in an impeccably tailored Alexandre Vautheir design. The dress featured an asymmetrical wrap which gave the effect of a thigh high slit. She opted for a black strapless top instead of the white runway look. A gold belt and white center broke up the black beautifully. Black and gold strappy pumps finished off her fab look.
