Seattle Seahawks Victory, Joe Namath's Coat and more This Week In Fashion...

Did you guys see the football practice on Sunday at the Bruno Mars concert…I mean…the Superbowl? The year was 1994 and I was 9 years old when Gregory Hines told me (via the movie ‘Renaissance Man’) that Victory starts in the mind. I believe that to this day. A couple hours before the game started my Dad asked me who was going to win. Without hesitation I said the Seahawks because I like to root for the underdog. Congratulations to myself for making a completely random guess and winning! And of course congratulations to the Seattle Seahawks on actually winning and dominating the entire game. I will admit I did not know what to expect for the halftime show but Bruno Mars killed it! I’m glad Bruno had the opportunity after having such a tough year with the loss of his mother. He and his entire team put on an awesome performance that was full of energy and raw talent. Bear with me I just have a couple more things I must mention before our regularly schedule fashion program. Did you see Joe Namath win the Superbowl before it started with that fur coat?!? The 70 yr-old former NY Jets quarterback strut onto the field to toss the coin. Even though he tossed it a little too early, it really didn’t matter considering his fur already stole the show. The commercials that aired during the game didn’t do it for me this year. Sorry. A particularly embarrassing incident that occurred on social media was the discrimination war that began during the coke commercial. For those of you who haven’t seen it, it is basically a collection of children singing ‘America the Beautiful’ in different languages. It sounded beautiful, it was full of beautiful images, it was a beautiful message…and then random people began sharing their misguided thoughts. I will not dignify the hateful and ignorant ideas that were spread across social media, I will only say this. The true natives of America are…wait for it…Native Americans. So chill out with the ridiculous hashtags and to all of the critics of the commercial have several seats preferably in a classroom because you clearly don’t understand the history of this nation. #thatisall

A light blue shirt, a maroon tie and a pair of navy Louboutin lace-up shoes finished off his look.
