HOPE IN GOD

HOPE IN GOD

I Peter 3:8-(14,15,16)

                    Bible Fact: God is willing to keep those whose minds are stayed on Him in faith.
       The Big Idea: Hope in God is always filled with strong confidence that God can handle any situation.

     Manson JohnsonHope in God is life’s best investment that never stops paying rewards.

I.          HOW DOES ONE OBTAIN BELIEVING STRONG CONFIDENCE IN GOD?  THERE ARE THREE  BASIC ELEMENTS THAT WORK TOGETHER TO CONTRIBUTE TO A BELIEVER’S STRONG CONFIDENCE IN GOD:

A. First, a God-directed will – plus a strong hope – into a passionate desire

II.        One’s HOPE in God should never be mixed, substituted or exchanged for strong overwhelming selfish desires of the world.  Job 27:8; 31:24-28; Matthew 6:19-21;Mark 8:34-38; I Timothy 6:9-19

III.       Hope based on faith in God transforms otherwise impossible situations to move natural events into supernatural experiences for miraculous outcomes. Mature ready-to-act hope in God is dependent upon one’s God-minded will to believe God for a certain action to take place. At the same time, the will to believe God must be properly demonstrated by the God-minded person at the level of expected returned blessing for a faith investment.

IV.       Three primary things that HOPE IN GOD does:

A. Hope in God PROMOTES the ability of God within the heart of the true believer;

B. Hope in God PROVIDES a supernatural system of delivery that controls favor from God to His chosen people.

C. Hope in God PRODUCES actions and outcome that please God that bring rewards from God.

V.       Where to put your hope to get the maximum reward and where time or this world cannot destroy it.

A. Put your hope in the eternal grace of God; Titus 2:11-15; Ephesians 2:5-10

1. Grace makes the believer right and in good standing with God, even though he does not deserve to be made right. Grace is God’s to give to whom He pleases. Grace is not a human merit…” Dr. Charles H. Spurgeon, Metropolitan Church, London, England in his sermon “God Justifieth The Ungodly”, says… “He makes those just who are unjust, forgives those who deserve to be punished, and favors those who deserve no favor…You thought, did you not, that salvation was for the good? that God’s grace was for the pure and holy, who are free from sin? It has fallen into your mind that, if you were excellent, then God would reward you; and you have thought that because you are not worthy, therefore there could be no way of your enjoying His favor. You must be somewhat surprised to read a text like this: “Him that justifieth the ungodly.”

  • It is the nature of righteousness to do right...that is why righteous people do what is right because they are righteous. The unrighteous is made righteous to do right but he cannot make himself right because his DNA from birth is unrighteous and he is prone to sin naturally and willingly. But grace processes his admissions and confessions of sins to God and by grace God makes him/her right to enter relationship with Him as a saved saint that qualifies to obtain covenant rights to inherit His promises (Hebrews 4:16).  Romans 4:1-25
