The University of Houston opens its 68th year of football on Friday, Aug. 30, at 7:30 p.m. inside Reliant Stadium as it takes on Southern for just the second time in program history.
The 2013 season marks Houston’s first in The American Athletic Conference and its first opportunity to automatically qualify for a BCS Bowl by winning the league crown. Houston previously spent 17 years as a member of Conference USA. The American is Houston’s sixth conference since the program started in 1946.
Houston’s two-deep depth chart sports 23 underclassmen, including eight true freshmen, compared to the 21 upperclassmen among the chart.
