North Forest wins Defensive Battle and Beat Davis 14-7
In what seemed to be a battle of the defenses, North Forest was the team that got away with the win as they held to beat Davis 14-7. The win propelled North Forest to 6-1 in division play, 7-2 overall. Davis fell to 3-3 in district play and 4-5 overall.
Both teams played great defense holding each other out of the endzone and forcing punts. At the end of the first quarter the score was 0-0. North Forest would start the scoring off when JaMarcus Anderson ran the ball in for a touchdown from a yard out. Anderson would score again from 2-yards away right before the half to push the lead from North Forest to 14-0.
Davis would score quickly after halftime when Eric Bowers scored on a 52-yard run. This pulled Davis to within 7 and at the end of the third quarter the score was 14-7. Each team would get a shut out in the fourth quarter giving North Forest the victory.
Wheatley has Great Offensive Game to Beat Waltrip 48-26
It was the battle of offenses in a high scoring game between Wheatley and Waltrip. In the end, Wheatley’s offense proved to be too powerful as they outscored Waltrip 48-26.
Wheatley started the scoring off when Dave Booker connected with De’Avian Wright for a 45-yard touchdown pass. Floyd Green would follow that score with a 1-yard run for a touchdown. At the end of the 1st quarter, Wheatley leads Waltrip 14-0.
Waltrip scored to top the 2nd quarter off when Nicholas Hollas connected with Benjamin Lemond on a 24-yard pass for a score. Waltrip would score again with 1:33 left in the half when Josh Helton ran a 1-yard touchdown. The score was now tied but Wheatley would score quickly before the half when David Williams caught a 7-yard pass from Booker with 21 seconds remaining. Wheatley would go in at the half 21-14.
Waltrip opened the second half with two quick scores. The first on a 3-yard run from Helton and then they got a spark on defense when Kodie Y’Barbo recovered a fumble and ran 33-yards for the score. Waltrip had its first lead of the game of 26-21.
Despite the quick surge Wheatley controlled the rest of the game dominated Waltrip through both the ground and the air.
Furr holds Sterling to 55 yards Total Offense as They Win 40-0
Furr’s defense showcased its talents and their offense was able to tallie up 350 yards of offense as they defeat Sterling 40-0 Friday night.
There was almost a scoreless first quarter until JaQuan McKnight ran for a 3-yard touchdown with 1:18 left in the first quarter. Furr was able to get two more score in the second quarter. The first a 2-yard run from Brandon Foster and then the second a 30-yard pass from Avery Davis to JaMarcus Bailey. Furr led Sterling 20-0 at the half.
There was no score in the third quart but Furr scored three times in the fourth. The first was a 58-yard pass from Davis to Stacy Piro. The last two were rushing touchdowns by Foster. Foster finished the game with 127-yards rushing.
