Store manager shoots teen burglary suspect in head outside Harris County smoke shop

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -– Deputy constables say a store manager shot a 19-year-old burglary suspect in the head after the teen and a second suspect tried to break in overnight.

The Harris County Pct. 3 Constable’s Office was called to Normandy Street near La Riviera Drive around 11:10 p.m. Wednesday. Constables said two teens were trying to break into the Smoke Box store, which was closed at the time.

A manager in the store went outside and confronted the suspects, shooting one of them. The other suspect, a 16-year-old, took off running along nearby Greens Bayou, constables said.

One officer caught up to the male and fired a shot, but he was not struck. The suspect was then taken into custody.

The injured suspect was sent to the hospital in stable condition.

Constables are investigating to see if a third suspect may have been involved in the burglary attempt.
