The Houston Area Alliance of Black School Educators (HAABSE) recently held its 26th Annual Outstanding Teacher Awards & Recognition Ceremony at the Westin Galleria Hotel.
The organization paid homage to 100 elementary and secondary educators from Houston, Alief, Spring, Sheldon, Fort Bend, North Forest Independent School Districts and Arrow Academy. The Elementary Teacher of the Year award was presented to Valencia Dutton. North Forest ISD, Dr. Christopher Pichon, president, presented the Presidential Award to Dr. Terry B. Grier, superintendent of schools, Houston ISD. The HAABSE Living Legend award was presented to Georgia D. Provost, president, Provost Studios, Texas Leading Professional Photographers since 1948, community activist and TSU PROUD.
