Former University of Houston cornerback D.J. Hayden joins Raiders for Minicamp

D.J. Hayden joins the rest of the Oakland Raiders as OTA’s (Organized Team Activities) began Monday, May 20, 2013. From his rookie minicamp, the coaches say they expect Hayden to be a big contributor with their new defensive schemes. Hayden says he’ll continue to work hard. “First and foremost, I just want to make every play possible that I can, and just help the team out, and just help to win and just try to do my best.”

Former NFL Player Chad Ochocinco Arrested

Chad Johnson aka “Ochocinco” was arrested in Florida after a Broward County judge determined he was in violation of his probation, all stemming from his 2012 domestic violence bust. His NFL career came to an end when the Miami Dolphins cut him following the domestic violence charges. Chad is also in an ongoing battle with his child’s mom, Andrea Pearson. He claims he is no longer able to make his $5,420 per month child support payment. He says now that he’s without a contract, unemployed, and at such a late stage in his career, that payment is impossible to make. Ochocinco made $66,000 a month in 2012.

Robert Griffin III Getting Backlash for Accepting Gifts

Robert Griffin III’s immense fan base is showing its appreciation for the Washington Redskins quarterback by purchasing many of the items he and his fiancée have listed on their wedding registry. The link to the Bed Bath & Beyond registry had been posted last week by The Washington Post. The former Baylor Univeristy standout posted a pic in front of several empty boxes on Twitter. He responded to the backlash by saying,”I didn’t ask the fans to buy me anything,” he wrote. “They found it on their own and decided to get what they could. SMH at all these Debbie downers.”

Aggies continue reaping benefits of new SEC union

Texas A&M has officially hooked up with the South Eastern Conference last July, and the new union continues to look like a smart move. With the SEC announcing its new SEC Network which will launch in August 2014, it will show about 45 SEC football games and twice as many men’s basketball games. There will also be 60 women’s basketball games and 75 baseball games. AT&T UVerse has already signed as a distributor.
