Who says fabulous doesn’t get around? L’Auberge Du Lac Casino in Lake Charles, La. was the place to be recently as the 6th Annual Platinum and Pearls Gala was featured there. The gala featured a “Dancing with the Stars” theme, which involved couples competing in different dance categories. The event also featured a silent auction, a live auction-featuring a dreamboat auctioneer by the name of Kevin Guidry.
A Lake Charles hero, Kevin played football at LSU and then went on to a very lucrative career with the NFL. Talk about tall, dark and handsome, oh my God, his tuxedo flowed downstream-smooth and his tuxedo shoes even had flat bows on them, and I thought I had seen it all. Hey Kevin, I see you baby. Mrs. Guidry is a lucky girl! Ok, ok, back to the gala. There was also live music by the Gervis Guidry and Band, which featured a vocalist by the name of Jacqueline Ellis. Talk about a song bird, her voice was phenomenal!
This event is sponsored every year by the 2000 Health Foundation, a foundation dedicated to “providing help that makes a difference.” Diabetes education and awareness is one of the foundations’ primary objectives. Chairman of the Board, Lisa Walker, was stunning as she flowed in a black sequin and lace Tadashi gown, accented with Chanel shoes, jewelry and purse, girlfriend, you worked that! Executive Director Stephanie Morris was equally stunning in a Jovani jeweled blue gown with gracious train, and no, you did not look like the mother of the bride, just a stone cold Diva! Congrats to Mrs. Etta Pete, the “Making a Difference” Award Recipient, again as beautiful inside as she is on the outside.
The dancers were on point and professional. The food was delish. I will be back, soon.
WHISPERS IN THE WIND - (A Little Dirt for the Day)
What is wrong with these men? I heard the other day that a certain female was dating a younger guy; aw, he was trying to be Mr. Wonderful. All the text messages with the smiley faces, the calls throughout the day, dates, home visits and trying to spend his little money on her. What’s wrong with that, you ask? He forgot to mention the woman he married two years ago. Who doesn’t know that all your tea is on the internet? Old fashioned lies don’t work anymore. The information highway (internet) is giving up the goods!
