Two days after getting squashed by the NBA in an apparent deal for Chris Paul, the Los Angeles Lakers traded forward Lamar Odom to Dallas for the Mavericks‘ first-round pick in the 2012 amateur draft.
“It’s a done deal,” said a person familiar with the situation who was not authorized to speak publicly.
The Mavericks might also send the Lakers another unspecified draft pick. It was not immediately clear whether the move was a straight salary dump or a circuitous effort to try to get Howard or Paul down the road.
Next year’s draft is considered deep, but the Mavericks, the defending NBA champions, aren’t expected to have a very high selection.
The Lakers lose depth in the frontcourt and a solid character in the locker room.
The Lakers also pulled out of another trade proposal for Paul on Saturday.
T.O. Takes $350K Hit in Short Sale, But Avoids Foreclosure
In a move that avoided another real estate debacle for Terrell Owens, the NFL star has reportedly struck a deal to sell his Dallas condo for $350,000 less than he bought it for.
According to TMZ, Owens paid $1.95 for his 3,559-square foot Dallas condo back in 2008, when he was still a member of the Dallas Cowboys, then, poured an additional $100,000 into the place to pimp it out.
But now that he is in financial trouble, Owens was forced to sell the spot – which is worth significantly less now.
Owens got his bank to accept a short sale on the condo in which the bank agreed to take less money than what’s owed on the loan, thereby avoiding the whole foreclosure process.
According to TMZ: “Some wealthy opportunist bought the place last month for $6 mil.” Also, “T.O. took a $56,000 loss on another property last month … and he still has no job in the NFL.”
Paris Jackson Lands First Movie Role
Michael Jackson’s daughter Paris has reportedly signed up for her first movie role.
The 13 year-old is set to appear in fantasy film “Lundon’s Bridge And The Three Keys,” due in 2013, reports The Press Association.
The film is an adaptation of a book by author Dennis H Christen, which focuses on the love of a family and the strength it brings them. Jackson will be 15 when the film is released, something that The Huffington Post reports was initially against the wishes of her family, who wanted her to wait until she was 18 before making the foray into acting.
However Jackson allegedly persuaded her grandmother, 81 year-old Katherine. Apparently all of her siblings are interested in the film business, elder brother Prince Michael has spoken of his desire to become a director, filming home videos with Paris and the youngest of Michael’s children Blanket.
