Disrespect of President Obama!
They say they want the country back!

Since President Barack Obama was elected in office, many in the GOP have been focused more on getting rid of Obama than fixing what ails our country.
Since taking control of the U.S. House of Representatives, members of the Tea Party and GOP leaders have been steadfast and relentless in their continued pursuit of placing every obstacle in the way of Obama to make progress on the economy and other critical matters.
There have been countless lies, distortions and half-truths, which have permeated the minds of Americans, keeping them polarized with glorified sensationalism and not solutions to the problems America faces.
Obama has been accused of not being an American, and has been under constant scrutiny to produce his birth certificate, something that no American president has had to endure. President Obama’s faith continues to be a topic of contention, as he is constantly labeled as a Muslim, although Obama has clearly identified himself as a Christian.
Most shocking, Obama is often compared by members of the GOP as another Adolf Hitler, leader of the Nazis, and one of the most brutal leaders and mass murderers in the history of the world.
The sad reality is most of this racist and disrespectful messaging is being embraced by radical extremists within and outside of the GOP.
WIN AT ALL COSTS
It is apparent that the GOP is doing things by “any means necessary,” to remove Obama from office. All indications are that they’ve chosen to turn a blind eye to the radical extremists within their own party and keep their focus on their overall goal, which is to get rid of Obama.
The GOP seems that it could care less about addressing the insensitive treatment of black people or speaking out aggressively against the racist messaging and disdain for President Obama’s own life, which has permeated their party.
It is also no secret that every President of the United States has been on the receiving end of satirical cartoons, emails and jokes.
Sometimes they are funny and many times they are crude…..but when does it cross the lines and allow racists to mask their real sentiments in the form of satire?
The belligerent and outright racially explosive material that has infiltrated the media in print and online has grown like a wildfire, and continues to pick up steam everyday. What is equally offensive is that much of it is being done without apology!
With groups like the Tea Party, making statements like, “We want our country back!,” many members of the black community have begun to question whether these expressions are code words for wanting America to return to a land that promoted racial segregation and black oppression.
TIRED OF THE DISRESPECT
Offensive emails are littering the internet and social media sites. Offensive billboards are plastered across our highways and roadways. Offensive cartoons depicting Obama as a monkey or with black face appear in mainstream newspapers and magazines.
This is the President of the United States of America right……Leader of the Free World…..Commander-in-Chief?
These vicious attacks on the race of this president and his wife have been called out by various groups and individuals, while the same weak and pathetic apologies come (or not).
In an email sent April 15, 2011 to her friends and acquaintances on, Orange County Republican Party Central Committee Member, Marilyn Davenport, didn’t expect the type of response from the email that she deemed funny and cool enough to send.
The racist email depicts a family portrait of apes, with President Obama’s face in the place of the infant ape of the family. The photo has a caption at the bottom that reads, “Now you know why no birth certificate.”
But, like many people that spread offensive material about black people, she just didn’t get it.
She stated, “I’m sorry if my email offended anyone, I simply found it amusing regarding the character of Obama and all the questions surrounding his origin of birth. In no way did I even consider the fact the he’s half-black when I sent out the email. In fact, the thought never entered my mind until one or two other people tried to make this about race.”
Her ignorance and weak apology, along with many others concerning the insensitive treatment of blacks in America is as rampant and blatant than it has ever been since the 1960’s; at the height of the Civil Rights movement.
The sad reality is, several other monkey pictures have been generated and sent out as well.
WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?
In 2009, two pastors came forth stating they were praying for Obama to die.
Rev. Wiley Drake, a former second vice president of the Southern Baptist Convention, told Fox News Radio that he was praying for the president to die.
Drake, a well-known minister of a denomination that once supported slavery said, “If he does not turn to God and does not turn his life around, I am asking God to enforce imprecatory prayers that are throughout the Scripture that would cause him death.”
Pastor Steven Anderson of Phoenix stood by his sermon when he encouraged his congregation to join him in praying for the president’s death.
“I hope that God strikes Barack Obama with brain cancer so he can die like Ted Kennedy and I hope it happens today,” he said. “I’m gonna pray that he dies and goes to hell when I go to bed tonight. That’s what I’m gonna pray.”
TAR BABY CONTROVERSY
In August, Republican congressman Doug Lamborn of Colorado, was blasted for appearing on a Denver radio station that being associated with Barack Obama was like touching a “tar baby.” The term “tar baby” has long been used as a derogatory term to reference black people, taken from the stories of an old black male character named Uncle Remus.
In typical fashion he apologized, but an editorial appeared in the Colorado Springs Gazette, saying thatit was really no big deal. A related poll was conducted by the paper that showed their readers were split down the middle about whether the remark was deliberately racist or no big deal.
YOU WANT IT BACK THAT BAD?
Members of the GOP and every Republican Presidential nominee have been consistent in their number one priority, which is not helping to fix the economy now, but picking the right person to defeat President Obama. There is no sense of urgency to help American citizens.
Even stars like Academy Award winning actor Morgan Freeman weighed in on the situation as a guest on the Piers Morgan show in September. He stated that the Republican Party and their subsidiary, the Tea Party, were primarily driven by prejudice towards the color of Obama’s skin.
Freeman stated that they wanted to “do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama only serves one term.” He said that their mentality is like, “Screw the country. We’re going to do whatever we do to get this black man outta here.”
Freeman also said: “It just shows the weak, dark, underside of America. We’re supposed to be better than that. We really are. That’s, that’s why all those people were in tears when Obama was elected president.”
How quickly those tears of joy have been turned into tears of anger and pain, considering the way Obama and Michelle have been portrayed in the media.
Fast forward to last week when Republican Mike O’ Neal, Kansas Speaker of the House, issued an “apology “after sending emails from his personal account calling Michele Obama,“Mrs. YoMama.”
To make matters worse, he had the audacity to circulate an email using biblical scripture calling for the removal of President Obama from office.
O’Neal states in his email, “At last — I can honestly voice a Biblical prayer for our president! Look it up — it is word for word! Let us all bow our heads and pray. Brothers and Sisters, can I get an AMEN? AMEN!!!!!!”
O’Neal is not apologizing for the email, although he did apologize for the email about the first lady.
Houston entrepreneur Jade Gold expressed her outrage over the email sent out about scripture. “I looked it up, and Psalm 109:8 says, “May his days be few; may another take his place of leadership,” said Gold. “I immediately wanted this man to be held accountable and responsible for such an offensive email,” said Gold. “This has got to stop and I refuse to be quiet any longer about this consistent disrespect of our President and the First Lady.”
If simply read as a sentence, one could believe O’Neil’s sincerity of thought. However, controversy has followed this same email for some time, as it has been circulating since Obama was elected.
The reason is, verses 9-12 of Psalm 109 state:
“May his children be fatherless and his wife a widow. May his children be wandering beggars; may they be driven from their ruined homes. May a creditor seize all he has; may strangers plunder the fruits of his labor. May no one extend kindness to him or take pity on his fatherless children.”
One must understand that most scripture readers study the verse above and/or below to get a complete understanding of the scripture and therein lies the problem. The very next verse advocates Michelle becoming a widow and her children fatherless. Not good. To some haters these are call to action code words.
A mentally disturbed man shot a rifle recently through the front window of the White House, claiming that Obama was the Anti-Christ and needed to die. It is very unfortunate that this president has had more threats on his life and family than any other president.
A NEW MOVEMENT NEEDED?
On the heels of Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday, we can all be motivated by his words, “Our lives begin to end, the day we become silent about the things that matter.”
There is a prayer circle that continues to support the Obama’s, and while President Obama chooses not to entertain these outrageous postings publicly, one doesn’t have to be a rocket scientist to know that this has to be frustrating and concerning to the president.
There is a lot to be done in this term for Obama, and it is far from being over.
It is time to address these issues and challenges, but the question is how?
Even if you have to go alone, you can’t be silent anymore.
The same electricity and passion that drove people to vote in 2008, will need to be duplicated and multiplied for 2012.
It is time for everyone to coordinate voter registration drives, because registering to vote matters.
If you don’t feel that you know how to do that, you can volunteer to work for a political campaign, because volunteerism matters.
Voter ID bills across the country must be struck down, because fighting unjust voting laws at every level of government matters.
Calling out and speaking up against subtle and blatant racially insensitive material matters.
The safety and welfare of our president and first lady matters.
If they want their country back and you allow them to take you back to the way things used to be, you have no one to blame but yourself, because “YOU MATTER” at the polls in 2012!
