The Texas Business Alliance held its 4th Annual Meeting and “State of the Houston Small Business Economy” Luncheon on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at the Council on Alcohol and Drugs Houston.
During the Annual Meeting, the TBA Board of Directors were installed by the Honorable Judge Willie E.B. Blackmon and TBA unveiled its 2012 Plan of Work and highlighted its 2011 Outcomes.
The 2012 TBA Board Members are: Zawadi Bryant, Byron Carter, Jennifer Dean, Debra Johnson, Nancy Minchillo, Lisa Ta, George Wyche, Jr. and Founder and CEO, Jeffrey L. Boney.
Small business owners had the opportunity to get straight-talk from a panel of experts: Roger Harris, City of Houston Mayor’s Office of Business Opportunity, Iris Welch, Riviera Finance and Lin Giralt, Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Program. Attendees were able to ask questions and hear critical information about training, investing in their business, marketing, finance and business growth.
Carlecia Wright, director of the Mayor’s Office of Business Opportunity for the city of Houston, received a standing ovation after delivering important small business growth strategies and sharing the exciting new changes at the city of Houston to make it easier for small businesses to do business.
The event concluded with a call for attendees to join TBA as members and with the presentation of the “Vanguard Award.”
The Vanguard Award is presented annually to a small business owner that has exemplified mentorship, advocacy and extraordinary contract teaming to minority and women-owned businesses as a best practice.
The Principle Partnering Group, LLC and owners Karen Becerra and Darryl King were the 2012 recipients.
