As we prepare for another college football season, I’ve decided to compile a list of the best and worst coaches for the respective teams. There’s no question which coach has it rolling better than any other. One who nails every criteria from wins, championships, recruiting, and history.

From the best coach at the best program in college football, to the worst coach at the worst program in college football, here’s my list of the top and bottom 5.

Hernandez

Massachusetts State Police set up a tent near New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez’s North Attleborough home Monday morning. They searched nearby waters for evidence connected to the Odin Lloyd homicide investigation. At least six officers were present, with some dressed in full scuba gear and carrying metal detectors.

State Police arrived at Hernandez’s home early Saturday afternoon and began searching inside and around the property. Nearly four hours later, law enforcement officials exited Hernandez’s home carrying what appeared to be multiple evidence bags. The officials loaded into an unmarked vehicle that then left. The remaining authorities at the home departed shortly thereafter.

Texans

The Houston Texans look to build off of the momentum they had from OTAs going into mini camp. Mini camp was held this week for three days and gave coaches a chance to get another look into their team before training camp.

Last season, the Texans didn’t have much trouble scoring points from the red zone — they scored in some way nearly every time. What was more of an issue was scoring touchdowns rather than field goals. That’s an area of emphasis for the Texans this offseason, and the additions of Greg Jones and rookie receiver DeAndre Hopkins could help in that respect.

From botched snaps to miscues on routes, the Texans looked all but polished as they wound up the last week of OTAs.

According to head coach Gary Kubiak, there’s going to be a little bit of that here and there. “We had a lot of mistakes probably because I gave them a little bit too much [to handle].”

SuperbowlThe NFL announced Tuesday that due to a scheduling conflict at Radio City Music Hall, the 2014 NFL Draft will be held May 8-10 in New York. The draft usually takes place the last weekend of April.
