Her patriotic American Flag shorts were made by Topshop and she paired that with a Wildfox Couture Stormy Paradise Cami. Cue the baby blue classic ride that B struck a pose on and we have ourselves a Fourth of July win.

The Olympics is the height of an athlete’s career. Some will not pass up the opportunity to participate in the Olympics no matter what their physical condition might be, look at Lance Armstrong.

Olympic runner Novlene Williams-Mills was diagnosed with breast cancer, but unbeknownst to any of her running colleagues, she took to the track in June of 2012, just days after her diagnosis, to win her spot on the Olympic team in the Jamaican Senior National Championships.  She won the 400 meters in 50.60 seconds to win her spot on the team. A month later, she went on to London with her team to win the 400 meter with the Jamaican relay team, according to the Daily Mail.

Janelle Monae looked classically beautiful in a white Dolce & Gabbana suit. She took the ensemble to the next level with a Katerina Maxine choker that she wore over a high collared white blouse. Her final touches of sparkle were a combination of a Norman Silverman cuff, earrings and a few rings. She finished her look with Jimmy Choo ‘Lance’ sandals, her signature pompadour hairstyle and a bold red lip.

Posture

Atten-Hut!  Is that what we think of when we hear the phrase, “good posture?”  Talk of good posture often generates images of women walking in a circle with books balanced on their heads or soldiers standing at attention. But good posture does not have to be rigid or ridiculous. In fact, far from ridiculous, it may be the key to good health.

Many women complain of lower back pain, stiff necks and shoulders, most of which have a direct correlation to poor posture. If you sit hunched in front of a computer screen all day, it's likely the head hovers towards the screen, the lower back has collapsed and the tail bone is supporting the weight, and legs are crossed or splayed. Remember the phrase, “put yo hands on yo hips and let yo backbone slip.”  Bad standing posture includes the same hunching or lateral misalignment, like standing with a hip cocked to one side. These common forms of less-than-perfect posture mean less-than-healthy consequences for the body. Let me tell you…I know.  I’m in physical therapy right now because of hovering over a computer too long.

I know I’ve started one or two columns off like this, but with all the legal maneuverings and trials going on, along with supposed “supreme” and final Supreme Court rulings being handed down, I thought I needed to revisit the law, at least from a Christian point of view. They tell me that ignorance of the law is not supposed to be an excuse for breaking the law.  So if you ever find yourself in court, telling the judge that you didn’t know something, this will not by and of itself get you off the hook.  However, depending on the peculiar circumstances, or the predisposition of the presiding judge, or the special talents of an astute lawyer, you might get lighter sentence, or in the case of police shootings, you might get off with an unjustified acquittal.  I believe when it comes to your and my spiritual trials, Jesus represents the kind of sentencing that only occurs in Family Court.  The more I read scripture, the more I understand the wonderful relationship we have with the Almighty and the extraordinary power of His love for you and me, as demonstrated by our relationship with His only son, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  It’s that blood relative thing that I’m referring to.  If you would allow me to use two examples to illustrate my point let me give for your review 1.) Christ on the cross and 2.) Simon Peter’s denial of Jesus as the cock crowed.

I’m pretty sure I am not the only one who has ever been caught up in church hopping. Once when going to a particular church to hear a particular preacher, I was met with the reality of the dreaded “guest minister.” The expected preacher’s absence from the pulpit was replaced by the stand in pastor’s remarkable word on humility. It was a stark reminder that it’s all about the message and not necessarily about the messenger. You would think I should know that, given that it was one of the first principles given to me by the minister who saved my life and, coincidently the man whom I was going to hear. Humility, as the guest pastor clarified, was very much evident and explainable in Philippians 2. The entire chapter is devoted to Paul’s message to the church at Philippi regarding “imitating Christ’s humility.”
